Purpose

The purpose of the Weston Education Foundation Community Education Grant is to provide funds up to $1500 to Weston based organizations or individuals to develop educational programs that benefit the residents of the Town of Weston.

Funding

These grants will be awarded to organizations and/or individuals that present educational programs from which either their constituents or the residents of the Town of Weston may benefit. Preference will be given to organizations that can demonstrate sustainable funding for their project after the completion of the WEF grant.

Criteria

The Foundation will give priority to:

  • New projects
  • Projects that promote educational opportunities
  • Projects that reflect input from constituent groups in project design and evaluation
  • Projects that include a clearly defined plan with defined outcomes
  • Projects that address sustainability of the project at the end of the grant term
  • Projects that build on community assets and strengths
  • Pilot Programs

WEF does NOT fund:

  • Support for Religious or Political organizations
  • Annual appeals or fundraising events
  • Open space purchases
  • For-profit, parochial, charter or private schools
  • Nonprofit endowments
  • Capital requests

Call for Community Education Grant Applications

The Weston Education Foundation (WEF) is making its second annual call for applications for their Community Education Grants Program. The application is easy to complete and all members of the community are encouraged to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity (current grant recipients must wait 12 months to apply for another grant).

The purpose of these grants is to provide up to $1,500 to Weston-based organizations or individuals to develop educational programs that benefit their constituents and/or Weston residents. Preference is given to organizations that can demonstrate sustainable funding for their project after the completion of the WEF grant. Previous Community Education Grants have helped fund a journal writing program at the Weston Public Library, computer classes at the Senior Center, the Sustainability Committee lecture series, “Years in the Making,” the 5th grade Weston Girl Scouts’ public service announcement on cyberbullying, the New Yorker Discussion Series at the Weston Public Library, a S.T.E.M grant for the Norfield Children’s Center after school , and much more.

Grant cycles are time sensitive (applications must be received by April 1st) so please apply as soon as possible!
